Quickly, a pair of pictures from DC - specifically from the day of the Reagan procession thing

It was hot. Illustrated by someone collapsing.

People cope with the enormity of things by taking pictures. I cope by taking pictures of them taking pictures. This was while the caisson was passing, I think.

There was a girl who sat near me on the trip back from DC - both flights. She honestly reminded me of a female version of myself. Looked kind of lost and uncomfortable in her skin.

There was a paper in Economic Inquiry that built a model to explain the racial preferences of audiences watching televised pro basketball. Basically, they want to see more white people. When Larry Bird says that basketball needs white stars, it's treated as conjecture and attacked because it's not something people want to hear - that they do have racial preferences. But there's evidence for it. I'm just not terribly interested in pro basketball.

Several weeks ago the AC adapter for my laptop broke - things bent, wires inside loosened, etc. Because a laptop has limited battery life, I ordered another one - on May 26th. Arriving June 1st, they say. Comes and goes. June 4th, they say. Comes and goes. I go on vacation. June 11th, they say. Comes and goes. Still not here. June 18th, they now say. Happily, I found a replacement part outside of the stupid computer manufacturer (who doesn't actually manufacture it - they slap a brand on it and sell it). In conclusion, when you buy a laptop - stress test the AC adapter. I particularly liked this: "UPS, UPS brandmark, and the Color Brown are trademarks of United Parcel Service of America, Inc." I'd like to know if they actually trademarked the color brown.
