[email protected]: two men sitting in the table next to me had the scariest conversation I've ever heard in my entire life. Both were wearing short-shorts. The older one, late 40s or so, said without provocation that he had an out of body experience. And then he started describing it, which sounded like an alien abduction story from X-Files. Then the other guy started talking about how dreams he has convince him that he has powers.

There's no books in this city, either. Seattle has a huge, amazing showcase library that compels people to take pictures of it, whereas this city's looks like it's a haunted veteranarian clinic.

And my hotel is a piece of shit. There's no high speed internet - wired or not, there's 1 phone by bed (i.e. you can't use your computer at their "workstation" [read: table + rolling chair], as there isn't even a phone jack over there), the toilet is too low, the bathtub faucet drips so you can forget about trying to sleep peacefully, the sheets are only slightly less uncomfortable than 120 grit sandpaper, the pillows are made of diapers so if you move your head while you are trying to get to sleep you are conveniently waken up by a crunching sound, the TV is controlled by LodgeNet which I will go on record as saying is a useless service that makes themselves more useless by leaving off channels that people might actually be interested in watching because it would compete with their pay-per-view movie thing and also I think the reason there's no kind of useful internet access is because they have a WebTV-clone thing that I think has to be some kind of joke. If you want to download and work with something, you're going to need to leave the hotel. The hotel's general state of repair makes it feel like it's going to fall apart or there's some kind of flophouse happening, too. I've been in a lot of hotels and been in ones that I felt were "okay" and this is not one of them.

But I get a club level suite on Saturday or something, which should stop my bitching for about 45 minutes.
