One of my favorite reporters for NPR is Wade Goodwyn. I find little reason to spend time listening or watching things, but I find his storytelling and cadence and intonation mesmerizing. I think he's at his best when it is less "newsy" and more "reporting" - for instance:
Is drilling causing earthquates in Cleburne, TX? and Tongan high school football players in Texas
He works on Texas/the Southwest and often reports on airline stories (typically ones about American or Southwest). His voice is awesome and the introductions to his stories are great ("Gleaming Harley Davidsons, the flash of their polished chrome reflecting the Tulsa sun" or "Here atop this little slice of Southwest paradise called the Barnett Shale a four story drilling rig can pop up in as little as a couple of days.")
